Nokia N9-New MeeGo Based Smartphone: Specifications & Overview
Due to lack of response for Symbian^3 OS , Today Nokia announced its upcoming Meego(Mobile OS) based Smartphone called “Nokia N9”. New thing in Nokia N9 is that it changed hardware Configuration w.r.t its predecessors. After trying a lot, Nokia failed to do more and better development with Symbian ^3. Recently Nokia announced its alliance with Microsoft’s Windows 7 mobile OS, but the availability of windows 7 based smartphone is still unknown for us. To give the challenges to rival Android & iOS based smartphone Nokia introuduced its 1st Meego smartphone. Hope it will do better than Symbian^3, because beating the Android and newly introduce iOS5 is not too easy. Anyway we will see what will happen 🙂
Though in Feb. 11 everything changed inside of Nokia Corporation due to Microsoft alliance , yet Nokia’s MeeGo Harmattan project was not killed completely. Perhaps Nokia CEO(Stephen Elop) felt that it would be a good way to show the world what is the capability of Nokia, or it may be his internal power that forced him to release this one last MeeGo Harmattan device, this result put a smile on hundreds of Nokians faces who had devoted themselves to create , develope what in their mind for featuring smartphones.
MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan OS supports QT 4.7 and HTML5 apps, supports OpenGL ES 2.0, and has a Webkit2-based browser. It will come up with few pre-installed apps, including a PDF viewer and document editor, Ovi Maps, Angry Birds Magic, Galaxy on Fire 2, Real Golf 2011, Facebook and Twitter many more. The interface has apparently been simplified a lot, with just three types of home screen views: apps, open apps, and events. It uses swipe for navigation purpose.
