  2. I’m not a physicist just an amateur. But I’ve been seeing this question for answers and couldn't resist not answering. Physics is vast and varying it's difficult to point out few methods that are applicable to all branches. What's appropriate for modern physics may not work in classical, what's efficient in theoretical may not be helpful in applied physics and so on.
    But certain methods can be laid out which if adjusted are highly efficient regardless of branch. I can’t assure that this “algorithm” would definitely work for you but if I had to learn the whole or most of Physics; I’d certainly follow this 3 phase methodology:
    1: Build the Basics
    2: Explore advanced topics
    3: Research
