Dealing with Anxiety During Covid19 through Taking Online Courses

Updated on: July 9, 2020

For those of you who are into self-development or professional development, I’ve created a course called Beat the Bully & Build Self-Confidence, which is designed mainly for women (but men are welcome to take it as well) to help them overcome obstacles like fears and limiting beliefs that get in the way of taking the actions needed to move forward in their lives and careers. The reason why this course is so appropriate for what we are all experiencing right now with COVID-19 is that the course teaches us how to rewire the brain to focus on what is working instead of what is not.

We are living through volatile and uncertain times or what the military calls a “VUCA world” which stands for volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. I think we would all agree that this is exactly what we are living through with the current global pandemic. With millions of people losing their jobs, watching their savings evaporate in an instant and facing many unknowns about the future, it is normal for people to experience stress and anxiety. When there is this type of external threat, it can trigger a fight or flight response where we respond by becoming immobilized or fight back in self-defense. Either way, this external threat can trigger a stress response in our bodies which decreases our ability to think logically and analytically. Therefore, it becomes even more important to find ways to calm down, think clearly and come up with a plan that puts you back in the driver’s seat.

Beating Anxiety

How You Can Beat Anxiety in Lockdown Time :

One of the best ways to beat anxiety is to invest in yourself, equip yourself with knowledge and gain the tools necessary to get into action. Lots of online learning platforms are offering free courses to learn everything from a new language to gardening. There are classes on virtually any topic that might interest you and with all the downtime we have, it’s a perfect opportunity to learn how to make pasta or a home-made mask!

For instance, if I have a belief that the world is ending and there are going to be no jobs for the next couple of years, then I may use this time to binge-watch Netflix instead of using this time to brush up my resume and start networking with people in my professional circle. Or if I believe that because of the lockdown measures many countries are putting in place, there’s no way you’re going to meet a new person (if you’re single), then you might opt to binge watch Netflix instead of updating your Tinder profile and starting up a conversation with someone new.

The point here is that our beliefs drive our actions. Whatever is the dominant storyline we tell ourselves is what we end up believing as the truth.

Confidence in ourselves and the belief that we are good enough, smart enough, and capable enough to meet any challenge with resourcefulness and creativity is the most fundamental belief we need in order to get into action and take back control of our destiny.

For those of you curious what the Beat the Bully Course will give you, you’ll learn :

- How to value yourself and have an increase in self-confidence and self-esteem

-Tools on how to improve your money mindset so you can take steps toward more financial abundance

-Negotiate a better salary or aim for that promotion you know you deserve

-How to properly give feedback and express yourself without getting into conflict with others

-More calm, sense of joy and freedom by knowing you’re enough!
